About Sulabha Trust

Established in 1979, Sulabha Trust for Special Education and Research is a pioneering institution dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

For over four decades, we have offered specialized education, therapeutic services, vocational training, and family counseling. Our mission is to create inclusive, supportive environments where every individual is given the opportunity to thrive with dignity and independence.

1991 – International Gold Medal

Nitin Desai won 1 Gold in Freestyle Swimming at the Special Olympics, Minneapolis, USA.

1992 & 2001 – Best Participating School

School received the Best Participating School Award from Special Olympics Bharat, Maharashtra.

2004 – Outstanding Institution Award

Awarded by Shri Harihar Putra Bhajan Samaj, Chembur.

Indoor Games Trophy

Sulabha Special School won the Best Participating School Trophy for the 21st time from Inner Wheel Club of North Island.

2019 – Afrin Ansari’s Double Gold

Won 2 Gold Medals in Singles & Doubles Badminton at Special Olympics, Abu Dhabi.

2023 – Prasididhi Kamble’s Triumph

Won Gold in 25m Freestyle, Silver in 25m x4 Relay, and Ribbon in 50m Freestyle at Special Olympics, Berlin.

Our Initiatives

The Sulabha Trust has completed 46years of establishment. It has contributed to the field of intellectual disability by imparting Special education, Training students, Guiding and counseling parents, Community involvement, providing services of therapists, Medical doctors, Networking with other organisations, mentoring teachers etc. Few of our ex-students are successfully employed which speaks for the goal of empowering individuals with Intellectually disability that the institute works towards.
